For Coolamon residents, New Years Eve can’t come quickly enough as excitement builds for the inaugural New Years Eve Street Party.
Children and adults alike are gearing up for the event, which will be held in picturesque Cowabbie Street from 6.00pm until 10.00pm. The party is a family-friendly event that will feature live entertainment, market stalls, food, children’s activities and much more, finished off by a fireworks display at 10.00pm.
Buskers and local performers will provide entertainment throughout the night, with headline act, the Blazing Saddles Showband, performing on the Wagga Mutual Credit Union Main Stage from 9.00pm. Children will be entertained by the animal farm and face painting, and there will be plenty of market stalls to spend that Christmas money at! A variety of food will be available or you can bring your own picnic tea. The grand finale will be the fireworks, which will light up the sky at 10.00pm.
Mayor of Coolamon Shire, Mr Robert Menzies, said the community is really looking forward to the event, which the Shire hopes to continue in years to come.
“The Shire has been talking about developing an annual event for Coolamon for some time, and New Years Eve seemed like the perfect opportunity,’ Cr Menzies said.
“We have a lot of young families in and around the Shire, and often New Year events are not very family-friendly. The Street Party has been created with families in mind and we hope that it provides something for everyone to enjoy.”
“Residents and visitors are encouraged to bring a chair, rug, food, drinks and really make a night of it! There will be plenty of activities to keep the family entertained until the fireworks go off at 10pm to close the event. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone there!” Cr Menzies said.
