Edward River Council
Two hours north of Bendigo and west of Albury/Wodonga the big attraction is the Murray River - a playground for water skiing, kayaking, boating and fishing. Deniliquin is also home to the huge Deni Ute Muster event.
Tilma Group assisted Edward River Council to secure matched funding from Destination NSW to deliver a $240,000 Destination Appeal Campaign. Team Tilma are excited to be managing a project that will fast-track the growth and development of Deni as a vibrant regional destination.
Tilma Group is developing and designing the campaign, involved in creative development and activation as well as evaluation.
Goondiwindi regional council
On the QLD/NSW border two hours southwest of Brisbane, the Gundy region offers visitors authentic farming life experiences, and insights into our history and heritage, such as with the newly opening Texas Rabbit Factory museum, plus events such as the Texas Country Music Roundup - a big event for a town of 900! Tilma is supporting the Roundup with strategic planning for its future growth.
Goondiwindi town has some amazing underutilised resources such as the water ski heaven, the Natural Heritage and Water Park, and it is filling out established tourism products such as cotton tours, with new ones like a range of Indigenous bush tucker tours.
Tilma Group has been hired to help the region build Goondiwindi region's capacity for a diverse range of regional events, from race days to tinny races!
This includes bringing event coordinators together for networking support, and teaching them effective social media management in workshops across the region. This will help develop and grow events to drive tourism to these small regional towns.
jackie howe festival of the golden shears
The Jackie Howe Festival has been celebrating Australia's sheep and wool industries for six years at Australia's biggest historic working steam-powered woolshed, the Woolshed at Jondaryan, west of Toowoomba, Queensland. The festival attracts around 5,000 visitors, especially families and living history junkies!
The festival site comes alive with volunteers showing off skills from days gone by, from blade shearing to whip-plaiting, to getting an amazing collection of antique farm machinery up and running in demonstrations. The highlight of the festival is the Jackie Howe Invitational, a shearing competition with Australia's biggest prize purse, honouring the undefeated world champion, Jackie Howe, who handsheared 321 sheep in 7 hours, 40 minutes in 1892.
The festival aims to connect visitors with source of the food on their plates and the fibres they're wearing. New events were added this year, including a longtable bush-infused lamb luncheon, a Saturday night concert, and what turned out to be a big hit: dads penning sheep in a Father's Day competition!
Tilma Group was hired to manage the 2016 festival, establishing systems to streamline the workload of the many volunteers, as well as financial and ticket sales systems. Tilma ran the marketing for the festival, and is working with Council on a strategic review to create a sustainable plan for the festival's future.
Outback Queensland Tourism
Outback Queensland must be one of the biggest tourist destination regions in the world at 375,000 square kilometres! Attractions range from desert landscapes to water sports havens, and from dinosaurs to outback mates! It's an amazing place where families connect and everyone feels grounded.
Tilma has been managing the digital marketing and PR for Outback Qld. This involves social media, digital advertising, PR, Instameets and other fun cutting-edge campaigns.
Tilma has also project managed the rebuild of a new consumer website for the region. The priority has been on integrating all activity in order to have a more strategic and aligned message!
Visit Coolamon Shire
Coolamon Shire is home to around 4,050 people and takes in the larger towns of Coolamon, Ganmain and Ardlethan, and the smaller villages of Marrar, Matong and Beckom.
Ideally situated, Coolamon Shire is bound by the neighbouring Shires of Narrandera, Bland, Temora, Junee and the City of Wagga Wagga and enjoys the best of both worlds - the friendly, relaxed atmosphere of rural living, and excellent services and facilities both within the Shire and in nearby areas.
Coolamon Shire is an ideal day trip destination with a growing events calendar that attracts crowds from neighbouring shires.
Tilma Group has been working with Coolamon Shire Council for five years. We assisted with the establishment of a new annual community festival (Coolamon NYE Street Party which attracts 2,000 folks) and new tourism experiences such as the Canola Trail, as well as supporting an increased awareness of the assets of Coolamon Shire through a dynamic marketing strategy.
In 2013, Tilma Group developed the Coolamon Shire Events Development Strategy, looking closely at how the rural shire utilises existing events, and grows new events.
The project involved a review of the current event portfolio and determining how existing events can be bundled and marketed, and what opportunities there were for new events within the existing calendar.
The outcome of this strategy was the development of a seasonal events marketing campaign and an annual events marketing grant program, which Tilma have implemented to this day. Further to this, a comprehensive event manual was developed and rolled out via workshops to all community groups in the Shire.
Tilma Group is also helping Coolamon Shire with digital marketing, PR and social media management, in addition to industry development and mentoring programs.

Tilma Group has been assisting Elm Cottage with its Tourism Award Submission Writing for the past three years, which has seen it win its categories at the Canberra and Capital Tourism Awards.

Felton Food Festival
Farmers in the Felton Valley near Toowoomba, Queensland, have been hosting a food festival since 2012 for the purpose of showcasing the district’s agriculture and to help consumers connect to where their food comes from. Over 4000 people attended the first festival and the Felton community was overwhelmed by the support shown for its local farmers and the food they produce. Following this encouragement, changes were made in 2013 with more space made available for food stalls in a much larger and more shaded festival site overlooking the beautiful Felton Valley. The new site proved a great success and the festival’s popularity continued to grow.
Preparation is well underway for the next Felton Food Festival to be held on Sunday, 26th March, 2017. What happened at the amazing 2016 festival...
Tilma Group has worked for two years with the festival committee to develop an event manual, operating structures and systems that will ensure this event has a sustainable future.
We also coordinate the development and marketing of new event packages, and managing the festival's state government funding programs and award submissions.
Last year's festival saw a 50% increase in visitor numbers from 8,000 to 12,000 thanks to Tilma's successful social media marketing! The new systems ensured volunteers were not overwhelmed.
With it’s famous chocolate and licorice factory, the legendary haunted Monte Cristo Homestead, the largest working railway roundhouse in the Southern Hemisphere, beautifully preserved historical buildings, aromatic lavender fields, and colourful countryside, visitors are always surprised about how much there are to see, do and experience in Junee.
Tilma Group has been working with Junee Shire Council for over seven years, playing a vital role in industry engagement and development and town’s marketing and promotions.
We have worked with Council on new product development, grant submission writing, re-establishing hallmark events and festivals, award submission writing and the development and implementation of creative marketing campaigns (including the recent Laurie Daley campaign).
We also worked on a major research project for Junee and developed a Tourism and Economic Development Strategy in 2014.

Riverina Regional Tourism
Riverina Regional Tourism (RRT) is the regional tourism organisation for the Riverina region of NSW. The organisation has 10 member councils and is governed by a voluntary board of directors.
As the peak tourism entity for the Riverina, RRT is responsible for industry development and marketing for the region.
Tilma Group has carried out the Executive Officer duties for the organization for two years, working hard on strategic development, marketing, PR and industry engagement.
During this period, the State Government restructured its funding program, which saw Tilma Group work with RRT and external parties to deliver the Riverina Destination Management plan, submit funding applications for the new Regional Visitor Economy Fund, and prepare the board and the region for the future of Riverina Tourism.
In addition Tilma Group was responsible for organization governance, social media and PR management, writing award and grant submissions, and reporting and administration.
most exciting development in this period was the establishment of Taste Riverina Food Festival, which was initiated by Tilma Group and is now a successful, established, industry driven event.
