Online Event Organiser Toolkit

Campbelltown City Council

Campbelltown extends along a valley in southwest Sydney surrounded by bush. It has recently masterplanned the revitalisation of its three city centres and is activating them with events.

PROJECT PURPOSE

Almost all major events in Campbelltown are delivered by Campbelltown City Council’s Events and Activations Unit. Council sought to empower and support local community groups, businesses and event organisers to host events by building their skills and making the process easier and more appealing.

Project Overview

The project included the development of a toolkit for event organisers, and streamlining Council’s event approval process, including automating much of the process on Council’s website.

Additionally, Council’s Events and Activations Unit sought a strategic pathway to support the development of the region's events.

Project Outcomes

Tilma Group developed a guide to event management for Campbelltown’s event organisers, to be delivered by Council as both an online pdf document with live links, and pages and online forms on Council’s website.

The toolkit includes a suite of event management templates to help event organisers efficiently plan, promote and deliver events.

The regional events strategy identifies how Council can

  • enable successful and sustainable events

  • develop signature destination events, and attract external events

  • maximise benefits from events

The strategy recommends

  • roles for Council related to events

  • measurable aspirations for events

  • how to overcome the City’s challenge of limited resources

  • the ‘right fit’ events to proactively support and attract

  • two gamechangers that would grow the benefits the Shire would receive from events
